I eloped last year! We decided to take an elaborate honeymoon in lieu of a wedding and spent three weeks frolicking through five countries in Europe. Even though I bulked up on my physical therapy in the months leading up to the trip, that much walking is hard on anyone. I started drawing this in an airport somewhere during our 36 hour trek home, depicting the glorious moment of rest that only comes once you’ve made it through to your gate.
I got the news this week that I am, indeed, permanently handicapped. If anyone has advice on coping, it would be much appreciated. My approach so far has been to lay on the couch and watch The Office over again.
It's been one helluva week, but I'm going to take this moment of calm to reflect on being 26. My mom called me on Monday to say happy birthday and to say that she sees me as a real adult now. So I guess that's official.
Leg surgery 2.0 is coming up in September. Thank you for following my little comic series as I cope.
I've been sick all week and normal functionality feels so far away. (But let's be real, I've been like this since election day.)
Sometimes, forcing yourself down the stairs isn't worth it. Sometimes, it's been a week since you went outside. And sometimes, that's okay.
