In early 2019, I was approached by my return client, National Novel Writing Month, about illustration their upcoming non-fiction book, Brave the Page. This book is described on their website as “The official NaNoWriMo handbook that inspires young people to tackle audacious goals and complete their creative projects.” I was asked to work from twelve concept sketches done by a NaNoWriMo staff member and adapt them into new spot illustrations. This project focused on the themes of adventure, diversity, and inspiration.
